120th company anniversary of Umicore Galvanotechnik Schwaebisch Gmuend

On the occasion of the company's 120th anniversary, Umicore invited to an open day on the firm's premises in Klarenbergstraße at the end of September.

In the course of the company's history, Umicore has developed into the leading supplier of processes for the electrodeposition of precious metals and special alloys. Products for depositing precious metals such as gold, silver, the platinum group metals palladium, platinum, rhodium and ruthenium are developed and manufactured and sold to 60 countries via the world-wide sales and service network.

At the location in Schwaebisch Gmuend, about 180 highly qualified employees deal with the development, testing, production and sale of products which are used in the manufacture of mobile phones, printed circuit boards, contacts, air-bag igniters, anti-lock braking systems, spectacle frames, writing utensils, jewellery, watches and many other things. Research and further development are focused on improvement of the coating properties, simpler or more productive application of the processes, cost savings or environmental aspects.

From origins rich in tradition, the company has developed into an international and successful enterprise by continuity and consequent customer orientation as well as by the special commitment of many highly qualified employees.
